A new SSAS and Sipp technical specialist has been hired by Barnett Waddingham.

He said: "The new freedoms have made pensions exciting and relevant again, both as a tax-advantaged home for people's savings, and as a means of helping entrepreneurs and business owners to develop and grow their organisations.
"In their capacity as defined contribution pension arrangements, my view is that both Self-Invested Personal Pensions and Small Self-Administered Schemes are ideally placed to take full advantage of the pension flexibilities that the new tax year has ushered in."
His new role will see him focus primarily on the various technical enquiries that come from clients and advisers regarding SSASs and Sipps.
He added: "I am genuinely excited at my new role within Barnett Waddingham, and am delighted to be joining this well-regarded firm at such a pivotal moment in the history of pensions."
Andrew Roberts, partner and head of SSAS at Barnett Waddingham, said: "James is hugely experienced in all aspects of pensions, and his knowledge of both the SSAS and Sipp markets will allow us to deal with the increase in enquiries being raised by clients and advisers more effectively.
"The increase in enquiries we are seeing has resulted from our recent acquisition activity as well as interest in the April 2015 pension changes."
